Ryan McGorman

New York, NY

  • University of Pennsylvania
  • The Wharton School
  • UCLA Anderson School of Management

Ryan’s first teaching experience was helping his little sister figure out her math homework. Since then, he’s taught everything from SAT and GRE to public speaking and ESL, and now he helps people get into b-school. He earned a B.A. and B.S. at UPenn and an MBA at UCLA Anderson, and scored 770 on the GMAT.

Originally from Philadelphia (go Eagles!), Ryan pursued a customized dual-degree program at the University of Pennsylvania in international relations and economics (Wharton), while also studying Mandarin, which led to a year-long academic scholarship to Tsinghua University in Beijing. After graduating college, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the entertainment industry and soon landed a job in talent management at Creative Artists Agency, helping transform actors and actresses into movie stars. After doing the Hollywood agent assistant grind (think Lloyd from HBO’s Entourage), he worked in feature development at Principato Young Entertainment and digital media at Lionsgate, before deciding the time was right to go back to school for an MBA.

In his spare time, Ryan enjoys volunteering with no-kill animal rescues and childhood literacy organizations, playing pop-rock piano and singing, and quoting movie lines that are of dubious relevance to the current situation.
